Truth is often very closely associated with beliefs. Beliefs are influenced by cultural and religious backgrounds. Different sexes also may have different beliefs on different ideas. Thus the truth as we know it today is nothing but a belief, which grew to be an accepted truth.
BODY
The acceptance of an idea/belief is essential for its transformation into a truth. More widelyt accepted it is, greater the chance that it will be believed to be true 2 eg.’s of how acceptance determines whether a idea is thought to be true or not. Harms of having such pseudo-truths: along the way, the reality is clouded, lost. Advantages of having pseudo-truths: hard to point out what is true and what is not. In an objective way it is very hard. Thus, an accepted belief which the community settles down to can be conveniently looked upon as the truth rather than questioning the validity of everything around us. Pragmatic truth test: what Is practical and not hindering our other beliefs can be thought to be as true. Non practical examples. The dangers and troubles of unsettling such accepted truths. World is flat and other beliefs which took very long to be displaced to make way for the “actual truth”
CONCLUSION
Community chooses its truth. Whatever is comfortable. Whatever works best. A rather narrow minded, self interested and selfish way of leading life, but that’s the way humans are. Thank you
